Two contents pages comparison
These two magazine contents pages represent two different genres so it makes it earlier to compare them in many ways.
Both of these magazines use an image of a model but the difference is that in the kerrang magazine has more that one model and more than one picture. This is a feature you find in all kerrang magazines as they tend to feature many artists where as XXL magazine mainly features one.
Also, the kerrang magazine has a variety of colours as it's target market is more diverse compared to the other magazine as its target market is much smaller, not many adults listen to hip-hop music.
The layout is different in both magazines, in the kerrang magazine, the contents page is more of a double page spread where as the XXL magazine's contents page is only on one page. which is more conventional for their type of magazine
The kerrang magazine features, promotional features at times with competitions to win tickets to a concert where as you would associate that time of thing with the XXL magazine.
Rap magazine contents page analysis
The image used is of two rappers standing back to back and they only used one image compared to other magazines which is iconic to only to XXL magazine.
The most important page numbers are larger to get readers to notice them and by making it as simplistic as this, it makes it easily accessible to the audience to as it allows them to easily find what they are looking for.
There is no pulled quote so it misses one of the elements a magazine should have and a pulled quote is effective as it can lure the reader to find out more things like thoughts and feelings of the audience.
The magazine logo is at the bottom and at the top right of the context page. The one at the top stands out more as it would be one of the first thing the audience will notice as they read from the top left to right, and the one at the bottom is generic many magazines as they all usually put it there along side their websites.
The font and layout adheres to the house style of the magazine as it is big and bold and mainly one colour black, in fact black is the most dominate colour in the magazine maybe to represent the majority of their target market even though they don't call it out, the images, words and font they used shows who they expoect their target market to be. There is no letter from the editor as XXL magazine do not usually do this .

Font development
The Change
After testing this out, i decided to change my font as i felt it didn't fully match with my plans and intentions for the future. I decided instead to use the font 'Bebas Neue' from Dafont.com. Its Bold and stands out better then the one above which is one of the main reasons that prompted me to change. Also as a result I decided to change the title of the DPS as also between shoots i decided to change which model was for which part of the production. The title i felt was too basic and does not represent certain themes associated with a magazine from this genre. These magazine often feature themes about progress from poverty to fame. I would like to imitate this theme as it works so well with other successful magazines.
